1001 Wines: You Must Try Before You Die

If you’re a wine enthusiast or just interested in wine, the hottest wine book on the shelves at the moment is Nigel Beckett and friends 1001 Wines: You Must Try Before You Die.

Quite simply, this book aims to provide you with an ecclectic mix of wines from around the world that an assortment of wine critics suggest you try before you die. The great thing abouit this book is the diversity and unique slant many of the critics put on the wines, and you would expect that many of the wines are the tried and true stalwarts. However, what they’ve done very well, and in my opinion should do more often, is provide an insight into some lesser known, rare vintages and labels. It’s very refreshing to see these guys think outside the box. The list of critics who have contributed to this publication is a who’s who of the wine world, and with the forward by Hugh Johnson, it makes for compelling reading. The photographs are also stunning from some amazing global wine scapes.

If you had an unlimited budget, you could have a cracker of a time wading from wine store to wine store tracking down these wines.

In the meantime, you can purchase it in time for Christmas.
