GEORGIAN YULETIDE FESTIVAL 06/12/2008 – 07/12/2008

  • Travel back in time to the mid 1700s when Stockwood House was built. Meet period craftspeople, such as a candle seller, or a Quack Doctor, and a Georgian chestnut roaster. Children have the chance to visit St Nicholas to receive a gift and join in with craft activities. Browse through the craft stalls at the greenhouse and the museum shop to buy some fantastic Christmas gifts.
  • Admission to the site – adults £2.50, concessions £2 and children £1. Visit to St Nicholas is £3.50 which includes gift and craft activities are £1 per child.

HARP CONCERT – NO PEDALS ATTACHED 06/12/2008

  • 2.30pm – 4.30pm: St Mary’s Church, Church Street, Luton, LU1 3FJ
  • St Mary’s Church Luton hosts international harpist Robin Ward in concert. The programme will include a wide variety of pieces, including Bach, Krumpoltz, and Ginka.

SYMPHONY CONCERT 06/12/2008

  • 7.30pm – 9.30pm: Stopsley Baptist Church, St Thomas’ Road, Stopsley Beds, LU2 7XP
  • The following program will be played at the Luton Symphony Orchestra Concert at Stopsley Baptist Church.
  • Brahms – Academic Festival Overture
    Vaughan Williams – The Lark Ascending
    Brahms – Symphony No 2 in d Major.
  • Admission – £8, £6 students and senior citizens and £3 children

A CONCERT AT CHRISTMAS 06/12/2008

  • 7.30pm – 10pm: St Nicholas Church Hall, Barton-le-Clay, Bedfordshire
  • Come and join us to get into Christmas mood with the lovely music of a large mixed choir. You will enjoy a relaxed evening listening to the Pulloxhill Choir singing musicals, easy listening and much more.

GOLDILOCKS AND THE THREE BEARS 11/12/2008 – 30/12/2008

  • Poor Goldilocks, although she loves to help her mother run their travelling circus, they’re really down on their luck.
  • Adults £11, concessions £9.50 and group discounts available.
  • Performances at 7pm each evening except Tuesday 16 which starts at 7.15pm. Morning performances at 10.15am on Friday 12, Tuesday 16, Wednesday 17 and Thursday 18 December. Matinee performances most days at 2pm. Signed performance on Saturday 13 December at 7pm.

  • Visit Santa, join the Christmas storytelling and take part in a range of festive craft activities all about stars. Make stars from straw or paper to decorate your Christmas tree. learn how to make a simple lace start with members of Aragon Lacemakers. The Bedfordshire Quilters will help you make a fabric star. Write a letter to Santa and he will write back to your personally.
  • Drop in activity. Craft activities £1 per child. Visits to Santa are £3.50 including gift.
  • Open on Saturday between 11am and 4pm and on Sunday between 1pm and 4.30pm.
  • Children’s craft activities are suitable for children aged 5+ years who must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.

CHRISTMAS CONCERT 13/12/2008C

  • 8pm – 10pm: Luton Central Baptist Church, Park Street, Luton
  • The University of Bedfordshire Choir – A concert of seasonal music and prose featuring Britten’s Ceremony of Carols tickets available from The Luton Library Theatre Box Office, tel: 01582 547474 or on the door.

THE SANTA RUN 14/12/2008

  • 11am – 2pm: Wardown Park, Luton
  • The Santa Run is a 5km fun run to raise vital funds for the local adult and children’s hospices. It’s a chance for everyone taking part to really kick start the countdowm to Christmas by dressing up as Santa and joining hundreds of others for a couple of laps around the park.

CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS EXTRAVAGANZA 22/12/2008

  • 2pm – 5pm: Lewsey Community Centre, Landrace Road, Lewsey Farm, Luton, LU4 0SW
  • Enjoy entertainers, a disco and loads of party games before Father Christmas pops along to join in the fun.
  • Tickets are only available in advance and include refreshments and a gift from Father Christmas.

A WINTER WALK – THE HOLLY AND THE IVY 23/12/2008

  • 10am – 1pm: Meet at John Dony Field Centre, Hancock Drive
  • Dress warmly for a winter stroll and a feast of Christmas folklore on the theme of the plants we all associate with a traditional Christmas. Finish at Wardown Park with Glowing cheeks for seasonal refreshments. Free, no need to book.
