CHRISTMAS FAYRE AT THE MUSEUM 13/12/2008 – 14/12/2008

  • A fun-packed Christmas Fayre to celebrate the festive season, including live winter animals, a craft fair and a range of activities for families.
  • One of the star attractions will be two live reindeer, Jingle and Belle, which will be dropping into the museum between 11 am and 4 pm on Saturday. On Sunday live Huskies will be paying a visit. Santa Claus will be in his grotto to receive requests for Christmas presents, with a charge of £2 per child to meet Santa and get an early Christmas present. Refreshments will be on offer, including a selection of mouth-watering home-made cakes. The museum will also be opening its Christmas exhibition on Saturday.

SANTA SPECIALS AT NENE VALLEY RAILWAY 13/12/2008 – 24/12/2008 C

  • next to the A1 at Stibbington – West of Peterborough
  • Your Santa experience starts with a welcome from our station staff then an enjoyable visit to Santa’s log cabin. THOMAS will be in steam around Wansford during your visit. Families then join the decorated train for a 55 minute ride to Peterborough and return. During the journey our train staff serve the children with a Thomas drink and some chocolate or sweets. Parents and other adults are given a serving of a mince pie with either an alcoholic miniature, wine or a hot drink. Santa walks through the train to see the children and to wish everyone the compliments of the season.

4 GIRLS 4 HARPS 17/12/2008

  • 4 Girls 4 Harps, a professional harp quartet of four award-winning artists, are coming to Stilton village on Wednesday 17th December to give a performance by candlelight in the warm and beautiful church of St Mary Magdalene. The quartet, who have performed live on BBC Radio 2’s Friday Night is Music Night, will play their own arrangements of festive music, such as Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite, Sleigh Ride by Leroy Anderson and The Twelve Days of Christmas. The flautist Kate Osborne will join the quartet for a couple of numbers.

POETRY AND PIES 19/12/2008

HANDEL’S MESSIAH 19/12/2008

  • 7.00pm: Peterborough Cathedral, Peterborough PE1 1XS
  • A spell binding candlelit performance of George Handel’s most famous classical work performed by Peterborough Cathedral Choir and period Orchestra Charivari Agreable. The beautiful Becket Chapel (opposite the Cathedral) will also be open from 5.00-6.30pm for homemade winter soup and hot ciabattas and wraps and discounted accommodation packages also available through the new Park Inn hotel nearby.
