  • The Grimethorpe Colliery Band are the current National Champion Band of Great Britain – a title won in both 2006 and 2007. This fantastic group of musicians are also the current English National Champions – no other Band have held both titles in the same year. The instrumentalists of Grimethorpe have appeared regularly on National Television recently taking part in the Paul O’Grady Show. The band is known throughout the world for the British film “Brassed Off” which was based on the Band and in which it appeared. Since the film the band have travelled the world appearing at the worlds premier concert halls like the Sydney Opera House and Carnegie Hall. The band as been awarded both Gold Discs in this country and abroad for the sale of the soundtrack compact disc of “Brassed Off”.
